Dekalb County, GA, was formed in 1822 with land from Henry, Gwinnett and Fayette counties. It was named after Baron Johann DeKalb who served as a major general in the Continental Army. Dekalb County's early growth is attributed to mills and ginneries.
The culturally diverse county is home to some of the area's greatest attractions such as Stone Mountain Park, Fernbank Museum of Natural History and Fernbank Science Center's Planetarium.
You won't want to miss all the attractions of Dekalb County. With unique shops and dining around the historic Old Dekalb Courthouse, there is always plenty to do in Dekalb County. And downtown Atlanta with all it has to offer is easily accessible via MARTA.
